Description:
Advertising products and services throughout drastically different markets call for different tactics. This is a basic test question in Marketing 101. But that still doesn’t lessen the awkwardness of a company like Google who advertised its online search in India via ink-to-paper newspaper adverts. Officially Google India, the company reportedly ordered targeted newspaper advertisements to appear in a variety of supplements in The Times Of India, a leading English-language daily in the country.
Apparently, this is not the first time that Google India has used this form of communication. A print campaign appeared back in November 2008, promoting their SMS search service. Google believes that this makes sense because the markets throughout India are emerging, and the best way to communicate to the most people is through their current source of information, the newspaper. In order for them to grow in these emerging markets, they may have to help grow the market itself. As Google has grows this enormous, emerging market, SEO will grow along with it.
