Description:
The first thing most sites are told when they’re looking to increase traffic via search engine optimization is to get as many links to their site and content as possible. Site often turn to social outlets for link power, but one site has turned to the dark side of links. Digg, a popular news site often touted for link building, may not help SEO anymore.
Earlier in 2009 Digg released the DiggBar, a toolbar and URL shortener that they have insisted is SEO-friendly. But news outlets are reporting that the shortened URLs don’t help a site’s traffic and instead redirect all traffic back to Digg.com. Outraged users are calling this tactic URL Hijacking, and are appalled that Digg is reaping benefits at the expense of others. Digg Veterans are citing that this tweak in use is a violation of the trust agreement. Other companies seeks SEO -success should take note. Always go for trust worthiness first, and link power second.
