Description:
Apparently the online news world is finally jumping on the SEO wagon. AP has announced that it wants to establish an industry-wide online news microformat to increase readership via SEO. According to paidContent.org, “AP is testing the format via its online Web Feeds platform, the openDemocracy.net site is trialling it and MST and AP are encouraging others to adopt it. More info at the MST’s Valueaddednews.org site.”
Newspapers and online only publishers are appearently becoming “well versed in SEO, SEM” and are working at getting their articles at the top of a Google (NSDQ: GOOG) search query. Google has seen a need for news SEO and annnounced in Maythat iw ould support microformats in Google News search. Meaning every microformat-supplied story would be provided a “rich” snippet of all its metadata tags instead of the traditional one to two-line snippets. This, along with other pro-SEO formats will likely begin effecting news search results, and begin the battle for news teams to reach the top of Google.
